Mobile camera locations
Mobile cameras are installed in unmarked vehicles parked on the side of a road. Locations are determined by the road's crash history, reports of excessive speeding or expert opinion that a particular location has an inherently high crash-risk. The cameras are rotated across approximately 2000 pre-approved locations. A list of the possible locations is published here and updated each month.

Precommissioned camera locations
Across the fixed camera network there are a number of precommissioned cameras undergoing various tests before they go live. These cameras operate just as normal cameras do – they will flash when a car speeds through an intersection or runs a red-light – but while the camera is of precommissioned status, no fines will be issued. Current precommissioned camera locations are:
- Warrigal Road at the intersection of Warrigal Road and Batesford Road, Chadstone
Routine testing and maintenance will continue at these sites during the precommissioned phase.
Note:
- Camera location descriptions may vary over time, due to equipment upgrades and repositioning on different points of the intersection, as well as suburb boundary changes.
- Some locations have more than one camera and each camera is certified separately. For these locations, certificates for each camera are provided in the same file and labelled according to their position or the lane they enforce (e.g. Kerb, Median, Lane 1, Lane 2, Northbound, Eastbound).
- Cameras at some of the listed locations are no longer operating. Their compliance certificates are provided for historical purposes.
