This data compares the number of vehicles that pass cameras with the number of infringements associated with the camera (not all cameras record all vehicle numbers, but the majority do). A vehicle is deemed as compliant if it does not incur an infringement for a speeding, red-light or unregistered vehicle offence.
Over 99 per cent of vehicles passing fixed cameras, and over 98 per cent of vehicles passing mobile cameras, comply with the speed limit.
The data shows the compliance rates since July 2006 to December 2011.
View the interactive motion chart which shows the comparative compliance rates (requires Flash), or see below for further information.
Compliance rates – fixed cameras
Over 99% of vehicles passing fixed cameras do not receive an infringement.

Notes:
- This data only includes infringements issued by cameras that also record the number of vehicles assessed. Not all fixed cameras record the number of vehicles assessed.
- The infringement numbers reported in the July to September 2011 and October to December 2011 quarters may have been affected by the police association industrial action which took place from 30 September to 24 October 2011, causing delays in the processing of infringement notices for offences dated during those quarters.
Compliance rates – mobile cameras
Over 98% of vehicles passing mobile cameras do not receive an infringement.

Notes:
- All mobile cameras record the number of vehicles assessed.
- The infringement numbers reported in the July to September 2011 and October to December 2011 quarters may have been affected by the police association industrial action which took place from 30 September to 24 October 2011, causing delays in the processing of infringement notices for offences dated during those quarters.
