Road Safety Camera Commissioner Commences in Office

Former County Court judge Gordon Lewis has commenced in office today as Victoria’s first Road Safety Camera Commissioner.

The Government established the Road Safety Camera Commissioner as part of its commitment to provide greater transparency and public accountability around road safety cameras in Victoria. The role provides the following key functions:

  • quality assurance and reporting: to independently monitor and review current camera operations
  • investigate and review: any part of the system of the Commissioner’s choosing or as requested by the Minister for Police and Emergency Services
  • complaints management: any person who feels aggrieved by the camera system can lodge a complaint with the Commissioner.
