How cameras work

Camera types are fixed speed, fixed red light, point-to-point/instantaneous, wet-film and mobile.

Victoria's road safety cameras, both fixed and mobile, are tested regularly by independent officers to ensure the accuracy of offence detection and integrity of equipment.

All Victorian fixed digital road safety cameras are tested annually by an independent testing officer in accordance with the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2019.
