The Office of the Road Safety Camera Commissioner was established in 2012 to increase transparency and enhance accountability of Victoria’s road safety camera system.

The Road Safety Camera Commissioner (RSCC) is an independent authority responsible for:

  • monitoring and reviewing current camera operations
  • reviewing information made available about the camera system
  • investigating and reviewing any part of the system
  • managing complaints from members of the public about technical or systemic issues relating to road safety cameras (excludes intervening in individual cases and reviewing the decision to issue a traffic infringement notice).

The current Commissioner, John Voyage, was appointed in 2016 and in his second Annual Report 2016-17 (External link) he concluded, “I am satisfied that the integrity, accuracy and efficiency of Victoria’s road safety cameras is maintained to a high standard.”
